About Gordon

Gordon was raised in Greenock attending Ardgowan Primary School and the Greenock Academy. He later moved to Houston, then Johnstone and Paisley, before joining the Royal Air Force in 1985. He has served at various locations throughout the UK and Europe and has accumulated over 7 years’ worth of active service in places such as Northern Ireland, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Greenock Telegraph published an article in 2010 about one of his tours in Helmand Province, Afghanistan where he served with the Gurkhas, 2 Para and the Royal Regiment of Scotland. His last tour of Afghanistan was with 51 Sqn RAF Regiment based at RAF Lossiemouth. This squadron was instrumental in defeating a heavily armed Taliban attack at Camp Bastion in September 2012 where they cleared the airfield of the enemy after 5 hours of intense fighting.

Gordon returned from Afghanistan in November 2012 and left the RAF in July 2013. Since leaving the RAF, Gordon has been able to spend more time with his wife, Jane and daughters Rebecca and Heather. He said, “Having spent so much time serving away I felt it was important to spend some time with my family”.

Having attended certified and nationally recognized courses run by the British Pest Control Association to gain his qualification as a pest control technician, and gaining work experience with a local pest control firm, Gordon has now been operating Clyde Pest Control Services for several successful years.
